Privacy

Plain language about what BeGiving keeps, what we do not do, and how to reach us. This is not a substitute for talking to your own lawyer.

Who we are

BeGiving is a US-only website. We help neighbors and partner organizations see needs, say I'm in or I'm praying, and talk. We are not a children's service. You must be 13 or older to create an account.

What we collect

If you create an account, we keep:

  • Email — so you can sign in and we can reach you about your account.
  • Profile — display name, bio, and the preferences you save (places, partners you follow, alert settings).
  • I'm in / I'm praying — the commitment you make on a need, including optional notes or amounts you typed. Partners who posted that need can see it. I’m in is a personal commitment, not a payment and not a binding contract. BeGiving does not charge cards or move money for needs. Help is arranged with the partner offline. You can withdraw while the commitment is still open.
  • Chat — messages you post in community or org channels, plus enough metadata to keep those rooms usable.
  • Reports — if you flag a post, need, or message, we keep what you sent so stewards can review it.

We also keep harvest stories, Bargain Hunter links, and similar activity you choose to post, plus technical logs needed to run and protect the site (sign-in, abuse checks).

We do not sell neighbor lists

We do not sell your email, your profile, or a list of neighbors to advertisers or data brokers. Partners see commitments on their own needs. Site stewards can review reports and moderate abuse. That is not a public mailing list.

How to delete your account

There is not a self-serve delete button yet. Email us and we will take it from there:

BegivingandHarvest@gmail.com

Say you want your BeGiving account deleted. Use the email you sign in with if you can.

US only

BeGiving is built for use in the United States. If you are not in the US, please do not create an account.
